JOB SUMMARY
Cassel, a leading vehicle graphics company, is seeking a creative and skilled Graphic Design Manager. As a Design Manager, you will play a crucial role in guiding clients through the design process and bringing concepts to life while leading other designers to do the same. A portfolio is required for consideration.

1. Leadership, Management, and Accountability
- Conduct monthly 1:1’s with each direct report
- Hold team accountable for client satisfaction, delivering projects on time, to spec and under budget
- Using strategic thinking, communication, and leadership to guide, strengthen, and expand the skills of the team
- Foster collaboration both within the design team and other teams while maintaining a balance between aesthetics and the realities of operational execution
- Manage demand planning (staff allocation)
- Attend operating and sales meetings
- Attend daily huddle
- Foster positive work environment while achieving goals
- Maintain consistent teamwork mentality
- Demonstrate Cassel’s core values by leading by example and promoting development of these values in direct reports
- Distribute design jobs to team members and keep jobs stay on track
- Assist team in prioritizing job queue
- Ensure initial design concepts meet Cassel standards as well as client expectations
2. Administrative
- Check time logs for accuracy and submitting for payroll
- Manage leave requests in balance with operational need
- Write and implement Standard Operating Procedures
- Maintain general and professional aesthetics and organization of personal desk space
3. Graphic Design
- Balance direct contributions in design support to meet team demands while guiding the team
- Conduct creative meetings with clients alongside CSRs and Sales Representatives to drive design direction
- Develop concepts or adapt existing designs for vehicle graphics, signs, banners, logos, etc. in line with Cassel and client’s brand standards
- Generate social media ideas and execute content creation for Cassel’s Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn
- Able to rationally communicate and present design concepts to clients
- Seeks collaboration and feedback: able to provide and receive constructive feedback
- Create proofs/print samples for client review
4. Client Satisfaction
- Interact and communicate with CSRs and Sales Representatives
- Avoid errors in proofing and design
- Thoroughly read job orders and fully understand the direction of a project
- Balance the client’s desires with realistic execution
- Identify potential color or image issues that will need to be addressed with the client
5. Training and Development
- Train new hires
- Help identify and solve departmental issues
- Encourage professional development for the design team
- Stay up to date on current design trends and software capabilities to pursue individual and team growth
EXPERIENCE
- 4+ years of related experience in the design/print industry
- 4+ years of related experience managing a team
- Associate/Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design
- Social media experience is a plus
- Prepress setup experience is a plus
